Etisalat is now accepting entries for the 2014 Etisalat Prize for Innovation. The prize will reward the facilitation and promotion of Mobile Broadband in Africa. Broadband is primarily mobile across the African continent and critical to our economic development. Etisalat believes innovation should go beyond improvements in existing products and services, and instead have real valuable social or economic impact to customers.
Prize Categories
The prize will be awarded in 2 subcategories with:
- Most innovative product or service launched in the last 18 months (1st Dec 2012 – 31st May 2013).
- Most innovative idea for driving or facilitating mobile broadband use in Africa.
Entries will need to show demonstrable impact (or potential impact for an idea) on broadband usage, impressive uptake from customers and have made a visible commercial or social impact on the community for the launched product/service.

Sub-Category 1: Existing product or service (launched in the last 18 months)
- $25,000 cash prize
- 2 Smartphones/Tablets/Mobile Devices
- Etisalat Mifi (with free data for one year)
- Business Development Mentoring (in-House)
- Promotion of product using Etisalat Online Platforms
Sub-Category 2: Innovative Idea (SME or individual)
- $10,000 cash prize
- 2 Smartphones/Tablets/Mobile Devices
- Etisalat Mifi (with free data for one year)
- Business Development Mentoring (in-House)
Eligibility
Entry is open to the African Mobile Broadband community (as listed below). This includes SME’s and individuals developing innovative mobile broadband solutions.
Entry is open to:
- Handset and/or Device manufacturers and customers
- Dongles & Modems
- Embedded Devices
- Tablets & eReaders
- Apps Developers and other Software service providers making use of mobile broadband capability
- Content Developers
Note on the Commercial Product/Service:
- The product or service submitted must have been launched and commercially available within 18months prior to the closing deadline of the Prize.
- Supporting evidence must be provided for launch and quoted commercial figures including details of countries or regions where the service is available.
