Youth4South Solution Awareness Contest 2017 (Up to $5,000 prize)

Nominations are now invited for the first global Youth4South Solution Awareness Contest aimed to promote the South-South Youth Leadership in advancing Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. In the framework of the Contest, individual young leaders or youth-led organizations from developing countries are invited to nominate their development solutions addressing one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Development solution.

If you are an individual young leader or a youth-led organization from a developing country and have a cost-efficient and potentially replicable solution to one of the development-related problems. They invite you to nominate a short video about your solution so that it could be potentially replicated in other countries of the Global South.

Prizes

  • Up to 17 development solutions that meet the relevance criteria will be shortlisted based on the number of likes received on the Youth4South page.
  • The shortlisted development solutions will then be reviewed by the selection panel and will compete for the three Solution Awareness Trophies, of USD 5,000, USD 2,000, and USD 1,000 for the top first, second, and third solution respectively.
  • Solution Awareness Trophy will be used to cover travel, accommodation, and other relevant costs contributing to the demand-driven South-South knowledge exchange involving the winning youth leader/organization.

The winning development solutions will be announced during the Global South-South Development EXPO 2017 that will take place in Antalya, Turkey during 27-30 November 2017.

Eligibility

  • Open to Individual young leaders or youth-led organizations from developing countries.
  • Must come from the “Global South” which refers to developing countries, which are located primarily in the Southern Hemisphere. The Global South includes Asia (with the exception of Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan), Central America, South America, Mexico, Africa, and the Middle East (with the exception of Israel).

Guidelines

  • You can be as creative as you wish to tell the story about your development solution as long as its maximum duration of up to 100 seconds
  • However, the solution showcased in the video must meet the following relevance criteria: 
    • Address at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals
    • Tackle a specific problem and result in visible improvement
    • Represent an already implemented initiative with known results, time required, and budget spent.
  • Preference in this Contest is given to innovative and cost-efficient solutions.
  • The videos should be in English and/or with English subtitles

Application

  •  In order to nominate your Video, please upload your video to Youtube, and fill out the entry form 
  • You may wish to read more information on South-South Cooperation before you begin making your video

Please note that the deadline for online nomination of development solution videos is extended till 20 November 2017, 5 p.m. New York Time, And the deadline for online voting through the Youth4South page is extended till 25 November 2017, 5 p.m. New York time.
