Deadline: February 26, 2018
Application to enter the Google Hash Code Programming Competition 2018 is ongoing. The Hash Code is a team programming competition organized by Google. You pick your team and programming language, Google picks an engineering problem for you to solve. Are you up for the challenge?
For each round of the competition Google will present a problem and your team will write a program that generates a solution. Your team can submit as many solutions as you’d like using the online Judge System, and a live scoreboard will let you know how you stack up against the competition.
Prizes
- For the Final Round, three teams with the highest scores will be awarded with cool Google prizes. Every participant will also get a certificate of qualification to the Final Round and a gift bag.
Eligibility
- Open to university students and industry professionals in Europe, the Middle East and Africa;
- You must be over the legal age of your country of residence and at least over 18 years of age at the date of the Online Qualification Round;
- Your team can consist of two, three or four members and team composition cannot be changed after the Online Qualification Round has begun. Some participants may leave your team, but a team which has only one remaining participant is automatically disqualified.
Judge System
For each round (Online Qualification Round and Final Round), your team will submit solutions through a Judge System (a web application provided by Google). You will access the Judge System using the Google Account you provided at registration. The Judge System will also feature a live scoreboard so that you’ll be able to see how the other teams perform. For each round, the live scoreboard will freeze one hour before the submission deadline (but scores will continue to be updated of course).
Application
Registration is free of charge and will close on February 26, 2018 at 18:00 CET. There are two rounds in this competition: the Online Qualification Round and the Final Round.
The only thing you need for the Online Qualification Round is a computer connected to the Internet. Google will announce the problem through a YouTube Live Stream, please check that your computer is able to play YouTube videos beforehand. The Judge System will be available as a web application, compatible with recent web browsers. For the rest of your computer setup, you’re free to use the tools and programming languages of your choice. For this round, your team can compete from wherever you’d like, including from one of Google’s Hash Code hubs.
