Deadline: June 4, 2018

Applications to join the 2018 Conference of Australian and Indonesian Youth (CAUSINDY) as a delegate are now open! CAUSINDY is a bilateral event designed to give 30 young leaders from Australia and Indonesia the opportunity to work together in building a stronger relationship between Australia and Indonesia. To be held in Makassar, Eastern Indonesia from September 5 – 8, 2018, delegates will partake in an exciting four day program of panels, special events and opportunities for collaboration aimed at enhancing the Indonesia-Australia bilateral relationship.

Each year, 30 CAUSINDY delegates take part in a four-day program, including panel discussions, social activities and networking events. CAUSINDY alumni are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, from senior public servants to prominent academics across Australia and Indonesia. In 2018, CAUSINDY heads to Indonesia with a focus on maritime sector. Over a four day program of panels, speakers and special events, they’ll explore new opportunities for collaboration and cooperation in terms of bilateral relationship at Sea.

Past CAUSINDY delegates have included emerging leaders across a diverse range of fields — from government and academia to non-profit and social enterprise. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with experts in business, government, and academia, and each other.

Eligibility

  • Open to Australian or Indonesian youth

As a premier bilateral event that has attracted the support of national governments, and tier-1 university and corporate partners, CAUSINDY is aimed at future leaders in Australia-Indonesia bilateral relationship.

The key selection criteria include:

  • Outstanding leadership qualities;
  • Superior academic achievement;
  • Superior performance in their chosen profession;
  • A demonstrated commitment to the Australia – Indonesia relationship, for example through academic or language studies, in-country experience, participation in the bilateral discourse; and
  • Most importantly: your age – between 21-35 years of age.

They also ask questions about your experience and leadership skills as they apply to the relationship — and where you view its strengths and weaknesses. Besides the basic criteria, we’re looking for creative and original thinking.

If you think you would be an important addition to the conference but you somehow fit outside our criteria, they’re interested to hear how and why you should be a delegate. Please apply and let them know your case for selection.

Application

With your application, please include details of two professional references, including position, organisation and contact information.

The references do not need to be in writing, but if they are, please feel free to include them in the same attachment as your CV. What’s most important is that your references are relevant to your experience in your career, university or volunteer work.
