Apply for OD Impact Challenge 2019/2020 for Young Changemakers (Win cash prizes and more)

Opportunity Desk is pleased to invite young changemakers across the world to enter the 2019/2020 OD Impact Challenge. The OD Impact Challenge seeks to recognize and support the efforts of young change-makers working to bring positive change to their communities while projecting and highlighting the impact opportunitydesk.org is making in the lives of people worldwide.

This edition comes with lots of exciting benefits, thanks to our partners: Meaningful Business Community, HotTopics.ht, Vantage Migration, Bridge for Billions, Espact, School of Computational Intelligence (SCI), Skills Outside School Foundation (SOSF) and Awescribers.

Opportunity Desk (OD) is the largest digital media platform that connects people across the world to information on global opportunities and educative resources. These opportunities help to facilitate young people’s efforts in exchanging ideas and preparing themselves for the future. They include: scholarships, conferences, fellowships, awards, jobs, internships, and grants targeted towards individuals and organizations worldwide. 

Since inception in 2012, Opportunity Desk has reached more than 234,000 people from over 180 countries around the world. Our website currently attracts more than 800,000 views monthly with over 300,000 people connected and engaged with us on social media. 

The competition is simple, it challenges participants to answer three main questions:-

  1. What are you doing to bring positive change to your community? 
  2. How is OD making an impact in your life?
  3. How will the prizes help you if you win?

Prizes and Benefits

Top 12 finalists and 3 winners will be selected based on the Judge’s criteria and support from OD users. A People’s Choice Award winner may be selected as well.

Top 12 finalists will receive:

  • E-certificates
  • Feature on Opportunity Desk

Top 3 Winners will receive:

  1. Cash prize for top 3 winners to support their work
    • $200 for 1st prize winner
    • $150 for 2nd prize winner
    • $100 for 3rd prize winner
  2. Exclusive media feature as OD Young Person of the Month
  3. Access to Bridge for Billions’ Leap Program, a 3-month incubation program, which has helped more than 900 early-stage entrepreneurs in 60 countries. Includes a personal mentor and access to top knowledge and tools as well as community of founders (valued at $2,925)
  4. Access to Vantage Migration‘s 5-week Masterclass to secure Graduate Admission on Scholarship to study in Canada 
  5. Access to SOSF‘s MBA-style Entrepreneurship Training 
  6. Free application review for any global opportunity 
  7. Free Cloud VPS on Adobe Web Services (AWS) if needed 
  8. Remote Interview and Media Feature on HotTopics, Espact and Punch 
  9. Promotional video from Awescribers to showcase your work

People’s Choice Winner will receive:

  1. Exclusive media feature as OD Young Person of the Month

  3. Access to SOSF’s MBA-style Entrepreneurship Training
  4. Free application review for any global opportunity

Eligibility

  • Participants between 18 and 30 years from any nationality are welcome to apply
  • Participants should be active Opportunity Desk Users. To be considered an active user, you are a fan/follower on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram; and you must be subscribed to our email newsletter.
  • Participants should be actively engaged in their communities.
  • Team members and mentors at Opportunity Desk are not eligible for this contest.
  • There is no entry fee
  • Opportunity Desk can take no responsibility for entries that are incorrectly or incompletely submitted.

Selection Criteria

The jury, made up of social change leaders and impact drivers, will carefully select finalists and winners based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation
  • Project impact
  • Sustainability

TIMELINE:

  • Entries open on December 15, 2019 and close on December 31, 2019
  • Finalists announced on Friday, January 10, 2020
  • Voting takes place January 10 – 17, 2020 during which OD fans can show support for their favorite finalists
  • Winners announced on opportunitydesk.org by Monday, January 27, 2020.
  • Prizes distributed between February and April 2020.

How to Enter the Competition

  • Step 1: APPLY
    • Complete the online application
  • Step 2: POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
    • Give us a shout-out to let us know you have submitted your application by tagging us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with @OpportunityDesk #ODImpactChallenge #ODIC2019. You can also ask us any question using these hashtags.
  • Step 3: PREPARE FOR VOTING
    • Top 12 finalists are contacted and required to submit a 60-second video within a week
