Dutch Circular Economy Hackathon 2021 for Green Entrepreneurs in Nigeria

Are you a Green Entrepreneur with a knack for creating viable waste management solutions aimed at achieving sustainable development and circularity in a business environment? If your business model fits the description, then this is an opportunity for you to showcase your ability to create sustainable solutions that have the potential to drive the Nigerian Circular Economy.

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lagos and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC) invite eligible Green Entrepreneurs in the sustainable development space to apply for the Circular Economy Hackathon 2021.

About the Hackathon

The Circular Economy Hackathon is organized by The Dutch Consulate in Lagos in partnership with Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC) to find and select 20 entrepreneurs playing in the sustainability and circular space through a call for entry. The entrepreneurs will be tasked to find viable and sustainable solutions for the circular challenges faced by designated Dutch companies in Nigeria.

Four Dutch Companies have been selected as participating Companies for the Hackathon. These Companies have provided some circular challenges in their day-to-day operations and the selected entrepreneurs will be responsible for proffering sustainable solutions for these challenges in a 2-week virtual hackathon from February 5 to February 22, 2021.

Benefits

  • The shortlisted entrepreneurs will receive training and mentorship during the hackathon which is tailored to support them in finding viable solutions for the circular challenges of the participating companies.
  • The finalists stand a chance to win a long-term partnership contract with any of the participating companies.

Eligibility

  • Women are strongly advised to apply for the Hackathon as Lead entrepreneurs;
  • Entrepreneurs applying for this entry must have a registered business (CAC). Registered businesses must be in existence for at least twelve months;
  • Eligible businesses must be dedicated to green and sustainable solutions anchored in their business model;  
  • Entrepreneurs must work in teams: lead entrepreneurs will represent their team or business in the program, while they work with their teams to create a viable business solution for the dedicated challenge.
