Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship to Attend the One Young World Summit 2023

Applications are invited for the Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship to Attend the One Young World Summit 2023. One Young World Summit is an annual gathering of 2,000+ of the brightest young leaders from every country and sector. Delegates from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, and many others to harness the knowledge and skills needed for being impactful change makers.

Delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking, and workshops. It is a chance for the individuals responsible for shaping the future of our world, to come together to confront the biggest challenges facing humanity. The Summit is the ultimate place to be inspired, share learnings, and connect.

About the Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship

The One Young World Summit 2023 will be held in the vibrant city of Belfast. Belfast is a city renowned for its resilience and optimism. Having emerged from decades of conflict due to the courage and resilience of its people; the city and its people understand the importance of leadership. 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the Belfast Good Friday Agreement.

With nearly 40% of its population under 30 years old, Northern Ireland has a generation of talented, responsible, and civically minded young people who are driving positive social change for a better future. As the Summit once again welcomes attendees from 190+ countries, it is critical to ensure the representation of young Northern Irish leaders who are making a positive impact in their communities.

Building on successful efforts to enhance the participation of host nation delegates, the Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship provides young people from across Northern Ireland, who are not already affiliated with OYW partner organisations, funding to participate in the One Young World Summit 2023 and join the One Young World Community.

The Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship will look to provide as many places as possible for young Northern Irish Leaders and is actively seeking the support of a coalition of sponsors from all sectors to increase the number of scholarship places available.

Scholarship

Leading Northern Ireland Scholars will receive:

  • Delegate access to the One Young World Summit 2023 which takes place in Belfast from 2 – 5 October 2023.
  • Catering which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Membership of the One Young World Ambassador Community.

Eligibility

You can apply if:

  • Are aged 18 – 30 by the date of the One Young World Summit 2023.
  • Are a resident of Northern Ireland.
  • Have proven leadership abilities and act as a role model in your community.
  • Have a capacity for innovation and value-driven problem-solving.
  • Have an ability to generate and articulate impactful ideas.

The Leading Northern Ireland Scholarship proactively welcomes diversity. This means they are looking for people who are doing the best they can within their individual circumstances, to improve the lives of others, no matter their field of interest or expertise.

Application deadline is May 21, 2023. Late applications will not be considered.
