Deadline: June 30, 2023

Hivos Southern Africa is seeking proposals for its Adolescent and Youth SRHR Inclusive Access Initiative project, under the Regional Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Fund.

Through an open call, grants will be provided to organizations proposing innovative ways to address the key challenges that adolescents and young people face in accessing SRHR Information and services. Preference will be given to organizations seeking to promote synergies, networks and collaborations in East and Southern Africa.

Grant Categories

  • Category 1: Grants for youth-led and youth-focused organizations: This category supports activities at a national level to a maximum of $25,000 and $50,000 for the seed and growth baskets respectively. Category 1 grants aim to ensure that youth-led/youth focused organizations have enhanced capacity to conceptualise, design and coordinate adolescent SRHR targeted activities in a more efficient and effective way. Efforts under this category will seek to increasingly defend and promote Adolescent SRHR within the focus countries and the East and Southern Africa region at large.
  • Category 2: Collaboration grant: This category supports SRHR advocacy initiatives within the Eastern and Southern Africa region. Applicants may apply for a maximum of $100,000. Category 2 grants will support youth-focused advocacy initiatives that will be spearheaded by networks/consortiums at a regional level. The aim of the category is to reinforce collaboration of civil society organizations to significantly and meaningfully contribute to improving adolescent SRHR outcomes at regional level through SRHR advocacy initiatives.
  • Category 3: Youth-led research initiatives: This category supports both national and regional research initiatives to a maximum of $50,000. Category 3 grants aim to support innovative adolescent-focused SRHR research initiatives from research focused institutions/organizations. Priority will be given to institutions/organizations that aim to build the capacity of adolescents and young people to undertake targeted research/evidence generation on challenges and solutions to improving ASRHR. Generated research by young people will be documented and disseminated and will be used to enable young people to promote and advocate for improved access for adolescents and youth SRHR services. Note that selected institutions/organizations will be required to establish a Youth Research Academy and collaborate/network with other research institutions within East and Southern Africa.
