United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Information Technology Management (ITM) team is accepting applications for 2024 Internship Program. UNDP is the leading United Nations organization working towards sustainable development and poverty eradication worldwide. The ITM team plays a crucial role in supporting UNDP’s global initiatives through innovative technology solutions. 

They are excited to offer internships that provide students with hands-on experience with UNDP. As they strongly believe in nurturing young talents and fostering knowledge exchange, our internship program aims to empower students with practical skills while contributing to meaningful projects that make a positive impact.

Opportunity Desk has partnered with UNDP ITM to help promote these Internships.

As an intern, you will be given tasks and opportunities that have a direct global impact on the development efforts of the international community. The UNDP/ITM internship programme enhances the academic life experience of passionate students as interns and empowers them to become socially responsible, innovative, and environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow. They bridge the gap between textbook learning and real-life industry experience by taking interns behind the scenes of the world’s leading clean energy and sustainability initiatives while learning to take into consideration the local context. 

Benefits

In accordance with the UNDP Internship policy, UNDP interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend, with the rate that varies depending on the duty location. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.  

Internship Details

Contract Duration: 6 months
Education & Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree
Required Languages: English
Desired Languages: UN official languages

Internship Positions

Energy Internship

  • Green Energy Internship: Be currently enrolled in a master’s degree/ graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies

Business Internship

  • Business Operations and Finance Internship (Copenhagen, Denmark): Experience in account management, finance, logistics, procurement, HR, or administration
  • Business Development Support Internship (Copenhagen, Denmark): Experience in sustainability, Interest in Digitalization and Innovation. Experience in Marketing materials
  • IT support – Business Intelligence and systems Internship (New York, United States): Knowledge in PowerApps for business processes to replace manual and paper-based processes with new and evolving cloud-based functions

IT Internship

  • Communication and Collaboration Engineer Internship (New York, United States): Knowledge in networking and network security (TCP/IP, NAT, firewalls), video conferencing, cloud telephone
  • ICT Engineering Internship (Copenhagen, Denmark): Knowledge in one of the following fields is required: Internetworking, Network management, Microsoft collaboration tools, API programming etc.
  • Software Developer Internship (Copenhagen, Denmark): Knowledge in the field of IT Technician/Software Developer, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering
  • IoT Operations Support Internship (Copenhagen, Denmark): Understanding of IoT, Data Analytics, software engineering, sustainable development-oriented areas of work
  • Software Engineering internship: Understanding of fundamental concepts of programming, knowledge of at least one programming language
  • Cloud Service Engineering Internship: Knowledge of networking and network security (TCP/IP, NAT, firewalls), server operating systems, cloud platforms, Mobile Device Management solutions

Eligibility

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
