Applications are open for the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge 2023. To contribute towards the reduction of unemployment crisis ravaging the youth population in Nigeria, the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa launched the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge, an idea pitching and grant competition for young entrepreneurs and innovators who have ideas that can be transformed into business ventures or social enterprises.
Since inception in 2018, the Center has supported the birth of over 5,000 SMEs and startups across Nigeria and have built a community of over 20,000 young and women entrepreneurs in Africa. Today, most beneficiaries of the startups challenge have become employers of labour, thereby helping to reduce the unemployment crisis as well as contribute to Nigeria’s overall GDP.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: 1.5 Million Naira
- 2nd Prize: 1Million Naira
- 3rd Prize: 700,000 Naira
- 4th Prize: 500,000 Naira
- 5th Prize: 300,000 Naira
Eligibility
- Open to young men and women entrepreneurs in Nigeria;
- Be between the ages of 18 – 40 years;
- Have ideas that can be transformed into successful business ventures or social enterprises.
Application
At the grand finale, the top 5 finalists shall pitch their ideas and compete for the prizes. Deadline for submission of applications is September 9, 2023.
