Deadline: March 21, 2024

Applications are open for the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3. Through the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3, they will be granting US $50,000 to a small, innovative, youth-led non-profit organisation which aims to solve the climate and health challenges facing young people today.

In addition to the grant, the winner will also receive a fully-funded Scholarship to attend the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, as well as mentorship by AstraZeneca and inclusion in a development programme through the YHP’s Impact Fellowship.

Prizes

The winning solution will receive:

  • Scholarship to participate in the One Young World Summit 2024
  • A US$50,000 grant from AstraZenea.
  • 12 months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca professionals and partners. The mentorship team will work to accelerate your solution based on the needs of your initiative or organisation, such as:
    • Business strategy
    • Best practices for data collection
    • Monitoring and evaluation
    • Product design

Eligibility

  • Nationals of all eligible countries may apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a positive impact related to leading climate/health equity projects benefitting youth (aged 10-24).
  • Access to the internet and a device (computer, phone) that will allow them to participate in live, online Fellowship sessions – this will not be provided to Fellows.
  • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Ability to fully participate in-person, at the One Young World Summit (18 – 21 September 2024) in Montreal, Canada.
  • Ability to commit to a one-year Fellowship program and attend at least 75% of modules/activities.
  • Ability to lead and manage the implementation and reporting of the non-profit project funded through the Fellowship.
  • Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organisations that meet the following criteria:
    • Have been registered and operational for at least three full years.
    • Have had a total reported income in the last financial year of more than USD$100,000 and less than USD$2,000,000.
    • Are ‘funding-ready’ and able to provide appropriate documentation (in English) to AstraZeneca’s grant-making partner at the Charities AId Foundation to verify their organisation’s charitable status, governance and financial situation. This process usually takes 3-6 months to complete and will begin once Fellows are selected. If the required documentation is unavailable, it may impact the ability of the organisation to receive the grant, and the Fellowship may be withdrawn. We aim for all grants to be dispersed by September 2025 and project to start between September 2024 and March 2025. All projects must end by November 2025 with the final impact report delivered to AstraZeneca by December 31, 2025.

Applicants must be able to propose a 6-12 month project that:

  • Identifies and explains barriers young people (aged 10-24) experience in relation to accessing healthcare in your community. This could include, but is not limited to, health literacy and awareness, access, experience, or outcomes of healthcare.
  • Proposes an innovative solution to this problem and clearly demonstrates how it will positively impact equitable access to healthcare for young people (aged 10-24).
  • Is designed and delivered in an inclusive and non-discriminatory way, working with marginalised, under-served or vulnerable young people.
  • Considers and prevents any detrimental environmental impact that could arise. Projects that have a positive impact on the environment will be prioritised.
  • Explains how it will be delivered in a way that will produce a benefit to the target beneficiary group.
  • Is measured and can demonstrate impact. Organisations must provide an end-of-year and end-of-grant report including, but not limited to, the total number of young people reached directly, change/improvement over time, lessons learned and impact.
  • Begins after September 2024 and will be completed by November 2025.
