Deadline: April 9, 2024

Are you a young leader from Africa? You could attend the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montréal from 18 – 21 September via the flagship Leading Africa Scholarship. One Young World is the global community for young leaders. It inspires young leaders to increase their social impact, builds their skills and capacity, and elevates their profiles both locally and globally.

The annual One Young World Summit convenes 2,000 young leaders, from 190+ countries to develop solutions to the world’s big challenges. They connect, share learnings, and are inspired by political, business and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Mary Robinson.

Delegates return to their communities and organisations as One Young World Ambassadors with the connections, insights, and motivation to act, accessing the global community of 15,500+ young leaders to accelerate existing social impact initiatives or establish new ventures.

One Young World strives to identify the most impactful young leaders from every country in the world. Scholarships provide the opportunity for exceptional young people to attend on the merit of their proven leadership and ability to create change in their home country. Leading Africa is an initiative designed to ensure that outstanding young people from Africa are represented at One Young World Summits.

Young leaders across Africa are devising meaningful strategies to build a more sustainable region. Are you one of those leaders? If so, One Young World is looking to bring you to their next annual Summit.

Benefits

Scholarship provides:

  • Access to the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montréal, Canada.
  • Hotel accommodation between 17 and 21 September 2024.
  • Catering which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • The cost of travel to and from Montréal. Your flight to and from Montréal must depart from and return to one and the same international airport.

Eligibility

We are not able to accept applications from those who will be aged under 18 at the time of the Summit.

Application

The strongest applicants will be shortlisted by mid-May 2024. You will be contacted individually by a member of the One Young World team if you have been shortlisted.

Note:

  • One Young World cannot guarantee any applicant that they will be shortlisted or that they will secure sponsorship for any shortlisted applicant.
  • Priority will be given to applicants from countries that have been less represented at previous One Young World Summits.
  • Priority will also be given to first-time Summit attendees (not OYW Ambassadors).
  • Due to the overwhelming amount of applications we receive, One Young World is unable to respond to individual emails enquiring about the outcome of the Leading Africa selection process.
