Deadline: October 1, 2024

Applications are open for the UNU MERIT Migration Management Diploma Programme (MMDP) 2025. This programme is designed for government officials and policy makers working in migration and asylum. This full-time three-month programme uses various teaching and evaluation methods, including lectures, interactive sessions, and hands-on practical exercises, with a special focus on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method.

The MMDP aims to develop theoretical knowledge on migration management and practical skills such as articulation and presenting. Overall, the course equips participants with new skills and insights, offering practical and interactive experiences in applying the latest knowledge in the field of migration management.

Moreover, MMDP provides a platform for networking through field trips across Europe. These include tours of Dutch Ministries in The Hague, EU institutions in Brussels, and the UN and other intergovernmental agencies in Geneva. This experience offers participants insights into national, regional, and international perspectives on migration management.

Programme Structure

The MMDP is structured around three key courses:

  • Migration Management and Protection
  • Migration and Development
  • Migration Policy

Each course lasts four weeks and covers a range of modules related to the course topic, including for example:

  • Introduction to Migration Data
  • International Migration Law
  • Enhancing Migration for Development
  • Labour Migration Management
  • Diaspora Engagement
  • Policy Coherence and Global Migration Governance
  • Migration Scenario Building
