Deadline: August 31, 2024

Applications are open for the CorpsAfrica Volunteers Program South Africa 2024. CorpsAfrica recruits and places ambitious young Africans in rural, underserved communities in their own countries to apply their education, build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and venture beyond their comfort zones to learn about their countries and about themselves. They facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members, to fulfill key needs and whose impact and success can be carefully measured.

CorpsAfrica Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and education including agriculture, gender, health, education, water and sanitation, environment, business, engineering, peace studies, language studies, as well as many others. All Volunteers must have a college degree or equivalent experience, and most Volunteers join CorpsAfrica with experience in the social sector and designing, implementing and monitoring projects.

The additional (and essential) skills that Volunteers need for their service–including community integration, proposal development, and project design and management–are taught as part of CorpsAfrica’s expert training program.

Benefits

  • Expert pre-service and in-service training facilitated by development and management professionals
  • A living allowance adequate to support the Volunteer in his/her site
  • Health insurance
  • Travel funds for official CorpsAfrica business
  • An end-of-service readjustment allowance
  • Certificate of completion
  • After completing service, option to apply to serve a second year in a different country and admission to the CorpsAfrica Alumni Association
  • A life-changing experience which will serve you well throughout your personal and professional life

Eligibility

To be eligible for service, you must:

  • Be a citizen of South Africa.
  • Be 21 years of age or older at the time of the start of your service.
  • Possess a university degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Willing and able, physically and emotionally, to serve as a Volunteer for the entirety of the service year in rural, often times, remote communities.
  • No record of criminal activity that would demonstrate unsuitability for CorpsAfrica service.
  • Have no conflict of interest that would interfere with your duties and responsibilities as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer.
  • Understand that volunteerism is an altruistic act, where one offers their time, skills, and resources without expectation of financial gain.

Application

  • Complete the following application, including all required fields.
  • Upload required documents.
