Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) Youth Employment Skills Program 2025

Applications are open for the Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) Youth Employment Skills Program 2025. The program is designed to equip Black and marginalized youth across Canada with the skills, support, and experience needed to thrive in today’s workforce.

Over the next 3.5 years, this program aims to directly assist 161 youth, Black youth especially, NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth, newcomers, and youth with disabilities, in overcoming barriers to employment through a combination of comprehensive training, mentorship, and quality job opportunities.

The program focuses on providing youth with:

  • Employment Skills Training: A 9-week program to develop job readiness, technical skills, and soft skills.
  • Quality Employment Opportunities: A 6-week placement with meaningful, supportive employers.
  • Paid Training and Development: During the 15 week program students will be paid for 30 hours/week of their time

Benefits

  • Individualized Support: Receive personalized coaching, case management, and access to mental health support, transportation, and more.
  • Paid Opportunity: Earn while you learn! Participants will be paid throughout the entire duration of the program.
  • Time Commitment: 30 hours per week for the full 9-week training and 6-week employment opportunity.

Eligibility

  • Open to Black youth, newcomers, youth with disabilities, and NEET youth (Not in Education, Employment or Training) as well as other marginalized groups;
  • Aged 15-30 and who are facing barriers to employment.

Application

The program is available in several cities, including Brampton, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. With the first cohort available across Canada in a virtual format.
