Are you ready to advance your skills in innovation, healthcare, and intrapreneurship? Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in the 19th edition of the Social Intrapreneurship for Innovation in Health online course, offered by Ashoka as part of the Making More Health initiative.

This six-week professional development course is designed to be self-paced and time-flexible, allowing you to immerse yourself in social intrapreneurship, social innovation, and impact creation. The training is free of charge but requires a minimum time commitment of two hours per week.

About the Course

In our rapidly changing world, employee skills such as intrapreneurship, agility, teamwork, empathy, and collaborative leadership are fundamental to an institution’s ability to innovate and grow. Social intrapreneurship is a methodology for sparking, cultivating, advancing, and scaling social innovation within institutions. This course, created by Ashoka and Boehringer Ingelheim, aims to equip participants with these essential skills.

Learning Objectives

  • Prepare for a leading role in creating social and business impact within your institution
  • Gain skills and strategies to garner internal and external support for innovative projects
  • Learn how to collaborate and advance innovation in a bureaucratic setting
  • Develop intrapreneurial strategies for co-creation and prototyping
  • Connect with a network of intrapreneurs and innovators
  • Engage with the global Ashoka network, including Ashoka Fellows, staff, and other innovators2

Course Structure

The course consists of:

  • 5 live, facilitated sessions
  • 1 office-hour session
  • 15 videos and 15 readings, including case studies, articles, and book excerpts
  • 20 discussion forums

Course Modules

  • The Business Case for Social Intrapreneurship: Explore the concept and definition of social intrapreneurship and investigate the business case for fostering intrapreneurship within institutions. Participants are exposed to real-world examples and applications to the health sector.
  • Intrapreneurial Challenges & Opportunities: Look into the importance of defining and understanding the challenges surrounding social intrapreneurship through market research and patient needs. Review examples of these challenges, with attention paid to communicating and framing the problem in a way that is compelling and understandable to your audience.
  • Strategies for Advancing Social Innovation Within Your Institution: Discover the practical strategies and steps that social intrapreneurs can take when navigating bureaucratic and institutional obstacles.
  • Co-Creation Part I: Leveraging Shared Value: The concept of co-creation through real-world examples of products, services or business models built out of co-creation. Explore opportunities for businesses to spark the next generation of sustainable solutions through collaboration with the social sector.
  • Co-Creation Part II: Idea Development and Pitching: Review the fundamentals of idea development and pitching, offer best practices, and look at case studies.
  • Final Review and Wrap-up: An exercise in reflection for course participants and is an opportunity to review all the content covered to date. It also enables participants to crystallize their professional connections made as a result of this course and debate concepts explored throughout.
