World Smart City Awards 2025 – Call for Applications

Applications are open for the World Smart City Awards 2025. These internationally acclaimed prizes recognize and support innovative city strategies, projects and ideas that can make an impact on citizens’ lives and turn our cities into better places to live.

Winners will be announced in front of a large, global audience of smart city professionals at Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC25), providing an unparalleled opportunity to share your work with the world by placing it in the spotlight on globally-renowned platform.

Categories

They are looking for game-changing projects linked to the following categories:

  • City Award: The City Award celebrates cities with a global strategy combining innovation, collaboration, inclusion and sustainability initiatives.
  • Innovation Award: The Innovation Award recognizes original initiatives and creative solutions improving communities.
  • Leadership Award: The Leadership Award honors individuals who’ve made significant contributions in the last decade. The Hall of Fame of smart urban development!
  • Project Award: The different Project Awards consider successful implemented projects developed in a specific area:
    • Enabling Technologies
    • Energy & Environment
    • Mobility
    • Governance & Economy
    • Living & Inclusion
    • Infrastructure & Building

Awards

The winners will be awarded the following prizes. All benefits are applicable to the 2026 edition of the Smart City Expo Congress. The 2025 winners will, during the 2026 edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, have the right to:

  • 1 Speaking slot in the Smart City Expo World Congress, defined by the organisation;
  • 5 congress passes (three-day full pass to the expo and congress sessions);
  • Publicity of the award via various communication media.

Eligibility

  • The World Smart City Awards are aimed at both public and private sector, cities, businesses, entrepreneurs, start-ups, digital innovators, developers, research centres, universities, civic techs, civil society representatives, non-governmental organizations, cooperatives, consortiums (public-private), social activists and individuals, with innovative ideas, analyses, studies, visions and solutions for the management and development of cities.
  • Institutions represented in the judging panel and organisers cannot compete in the World Smart City Awards.
