Deadline: January 18, 2013 for Students and February 1, 2013 for Photographers
Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 Alexia Grants.
The Alexia Foundation is offering production grants to students and professional photographers to give them the financial ability to produce substantial stories that drive change in the effort to make the world a better place. Students also get scholarship opportunities.
Students Grants
The Alexia Foundation provides educational opportunities and cash grants to help students produce picture stories that further the Foundation’s goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding. Undergrad and grad students are eligible, but there is only one First Place, one Second Place and three Awards of Excellence.
Applicants must be duly enrolled full-time students in an accredited college or university in the U.S. or abroad in a degree program at the time of application. Graduate and undergraduate students are eligible. No student who has completed more than three internships or a year of full-time professional experience is eligible.
Professional Photographer Grants
The professional Alexia Grant recipient will receive $15,000 for the production of the proposed project. See the student rules for information about the student competition.
Any photographer from any country may apply for this grant. Proposals that have received grants or awards exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year are not eligible. This award is for an individual photographer. Collaborative applications are not accepted.
Deadlines
The application deadline for the professional grant is Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 5 p.m. Eastern time.
The deadline for the student grants is Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 5 p.m. Eastern time.
