Today, April 25, 2013 is Girls In ICT Day.
To help inspire girls to consider a future in technology, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations specialized agency for information & communication technologies (ICTs) established ‘Girls in ICT Day’ in 2010. To mark the day, they have profiled some young women around the world who are a difference with waves in ICT.
One of the girls featured is our own Somto Fab-Ukozor – Opportunity Desk reader.
Somto Fab-Ukozor is an Electrical/Electronic Engineering graduate from the Federal University of Technology Owerri in Nigeria. Somto’s enthusiasm about using ICT as an innovative tool for youth development and empowerment led her to develop a project called MS2C (Mobile Skills to Cash).
MS2C uses mobile technology to connect young people to job opportunities. She is also interested in youth work, social entrepreneurship and women’s and girl’s rights.

We join ITU today to Congratulate every female in ICT! This is an inspiration to us.
Somto is saying to all girls, ‘Never let your light dwindle….keep the fire burning and continue to inspire more females. Cheers ♥ ‘
We are proud of you, Somto and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.
