Deadline: December 23 2013
Are you 18 to 24? UNESCO invites Youth around the world to take part in the 2014 UNESCO Worldwide Multimedia Competition. Think creatively, involve your peers and community and answer the question, “If you could do one thing in your lifetime to make the world a better place what would it be, why, and how?”
You are encouraged to respond by making a 3-minute video, multimedia presentation, written essay, art work or using any method that channels your specific passion and talent to share your answer to the question.
Youth are in one of, if not the, greatest positions to effect change in the world. They have the greatest connection with their own generations. Mobilizing the youth now to purposefully use their talents to serve others will ensure even greater impact of their works throughout their life. Often they are not given the opportunity to extend their voice.
Contest Winners
Contest winners will be announced on January 10, 2014 and will be published on the UNESCO website and in various newspapers around the world. The various UNESCO federations across the globe will select finalists within their districts which will then be sent to the Director of Youth Initiatives for the U.S. Federation.
Among this pool of finalists, 10 international finalists will be selected to receive a $1,000 prize. Of the 10 finalist, 3 top winners will be invited to attend the 2014 March Executive Board Meeting, their travel cost paid, where they will showcase their project, engage in the conversation and workshops.
Additional Benefits
All of the international finalists will work with U.S. Federation, its sponsors, and their national Federations to develop plans of action to put their proposed project into action. It is proposed that these finalists will then receive the materials and capital needed to put their proposals into action and encourage future participants.
Eligibility
All youth from across the world aged 18 to 24 can apply.
