2015 Postgraduate Scholarships at the University of Queensland (For Indians and Latin Americans)

The University of Queensland invites outstanding students who are citizens of India or of countries in Latin America to apply for a postgraduate coursework scholarship. Scholarships are awarded for the following programs: Master of Biotechnology, Master of Molecular Biology or Master of Bioinformatics programs.

Scholarship worth

  • Approximately AUD$ 16,080 per year, based on an indicative annual fee of AUD$ 32,160. Indicative annual fees are calculated on the basis of two full-time semesters only.

Eligibility

  • Applicants who are citizens of India;
    • possess a Grade Point Average of at least 80% in 7 semesters of undergraduate studies or received a minimum of 75% over 8 semesters of study at a higher education institution in India which is ranked section 1 or 2 according to NOOSR (the Australian government, National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition),
    • be able to commence as an international student in Australia on a student visa,
    • have submitted the application by the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Latin America Eligibility:
    • be a citizen of a country in Latin America,
    • has achieved at least the equivalent of the entry requirements for the proposed program of study,
    • be able to commence as an international student in Australia on a student visa,
    • have submitted the application by the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing greatest merit as demonstrated by –

  • academic achievement in undergraduate studies; and
  • strength of interest demonstrated in the relevant field of postgraduate coursework study; and
  • personal qualities, including leadership potential; and
  • any other matter that the selection committee considers to be relevant to the applicant’s future professional success in the relevant field of postgraduate coursework study.

Deadline:

October 31, 2014 for a Semester 1, 2015 (February) commencement
March 31, 2015 for a Semester 2, 2015 (July) commencement.
