Entries are now be being accepted for the Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change. Think about a project or campaign you are involved in to combat climate change, an action which convinced your parents, school or college to take climate action, a lobbying of your elected members of parliament or your city leaders. Whatever is making a difference, turn it into a snappy concise video and join the competition. Some key questions to answer are:
- Why did you choose to engage in this climate action?
- What were some of the key things that took place?
- What were some of the successes?
- Where did these successes occur (locally, nationally or internationally)?
- How can youth from similar countries replicate the activities that have been implemented?
Eligibility
This competition is open to any person of any age, in any country between the ages of 18 and 30 on 15 November 2015.
Entry Guidelines
- Films must be a maximum of three minutes in duration, including credits and titles. Any film that is longer than this length will be disqualified.Films should be short reports about the activity or action in which you are involved.
- Films must be submitted to tve (biomovies@tve.org.uk) via file transfer (www.wetransfer.com) in the format of flv, mov, mp4, wmv or zip along with a completed online entry form.
- You must agree to all the terms and conditions to enter the competition.
Prizes
There will be two winners:
- One winner will be chosen based on the most number of views on tve‘s You Tube channel during the voting period; and
- The other winner will be selected by members of the UNFCCC Secretariat, UNDP-SGP and others.
- Each winner will receive:
(i) Round trip to COP21/CMP11 in Paris, France from 30 November to 11 December 2015 (inclusive of accommodation and other expenses); and
(ii) Position as a youth reporter for COP21/CMP11, responsible for assisting UNFCCC Newsroom team with videos, articles and social media posts.
Judgement Criteria
The judges are looking for creative inspirational stories about your action on climate change. The winning entries will be judged based on following criteria:
- Content: clearness and effectiveness of the video in documenting a story about climate change, promoting action and/or offering new solutions.
- Innovation, originality, and impact: telling a climate story in a fresh and unusual way, appealing to a broad and diverse audience and encouraging further thought and action.
- Technical expertise: quality of camera and audio work, effectiveness of editing and strength of script.
How to Enter
- Make a three minute film about the action you are involved in to combat climate change.
- Complete your entry using our online form and send us the film before 23.00 GMT 17 August 2015. The videos may be recorded in any language, but English subtitles must be provided.
- Films which meet the criteria will be uploaded to tve‘s You Tube channel tveinspiringchange and a shortlist of entries will be viewed by the judging panel.
