Konrad MENA Leadership Academy Training Program 2016 in Spain, Tunisia and Germany (fully-funded)

Konrad Adenauer Foundation invites applications for their Regional Training Program, designed for young adults in the Middle East and North Africa Region. The training program aims to enhance knowledge of professional methodology; strengthen the understanding of the role of civil society, and of the concept of participation; and increase the CSO contribution to economic and social development. Equally, the program aims at motivating young people to participate in the civic life and local development of their countries.

20 selected participants will follow a unique program cycle throughout 2016-2017 with a series of Trainings to strengthen organizational and functional capabilities of CSOs, the program will also focus on individual skill training such as communication and negotiation. The training series will be finalized with a study trip to Germany.

Training Details

The training program will take place over a 2-year period and will consist of following components:

  • First Training on Functions and Organization of Civil Society Organizations in Democratic Societies
    • 16-22 May 2016, Madrid/Spain
    • Duration: 5 days
    • Focus: Different aspects of CSO role and functions in the context of development in the MENA-Region. The participants will also be trained in strategic planning and project development.
  • Second Training on Strengthening Skills
    • Tentative Details: November 2016, Tunis/Tunisia
    • Duration: 5 days
    • Focus: Local politics and the role of civic participation/CSOs in the regional and local level.
  • Third Training on Local Governance and Development
    • Tentative Details: March 2017, Spain/Regions
    • Duration: 5 days
    • Focus: Communication and Negotiation Skills
  • Fourth Training on Civic Engagement in Western European Democracies •
    • Tentative Details: September 2017, Germany
    • Duration: 7 days
    • Focus: Study trip to Germany where the participants will learn about the organization and activities of CSOs in western European parliamentary democracy.

Eligibility

  • Open to citizens of MENA region countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon.
  • Age: Between 20 and 35 years
  • Active in a civil society organization or any other form of civic engagement
  • Very good command of English
  • Available to contribute to the entire program cycle 2016-2017.
