ASEAN Data Science Explorers Competition 2018 (Win cash prizes & an all-expenses paid trip to Singapore)

The ASEAN Foundation is invite youth to join the ASEAN Data Science Explorers Competition to help shape the future by harnessing data to highlight key issues in ASEAN. Use data analytics to propose solutions that can make a difference to its people.

The ASEAN Data Science Explorers competition is designed to promote awareness and enhance the appreciation of an ASEAN Community amongst today’s youths through digital literacy intervention in the form of an analytics competition. The competition aims to accelerate the learning curve of students through a national and regional competition using the SAP Analytics Cloud tool.

Join the competition today, if you are an ASEAN National above 16 years of age, and currently studying at a tertiary institution in Southeast Asia. Attractive prizes await!

The Challenge

You will analyse one of the six categories that are part of the 17 Sustainable Goals (SDGs) from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Click this link to learn more.

Prizes

All participants who successfully register their team and submit their storyboard will be given a certificate of participation. Participants who are shortlisted to attend the National Finals and ASEAN Face-Off will be awarded a certificate of achievement.

The top THREE winning teams in each country will stand to win cash prizes of a pre-determined amount and trophies. The top team from each country will also win an all-expenses paid trip to Singapore for two team members, including DSA (Daily Subsistence Allowance), shared accommodation, flight ticket, and transportation allowance as per ASEAN Foundation’s travel policy.

Eligibility

Participants must be:

  1. Nationals of ASEAN member countries (ie. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam)
  2. Full-time tertiary students currently pursuing their Diploma or Undergraduate studies in one of the tertiary institutions in Southeast Asia.
  3. Above the age of 16 as at the start of the Contest Period. Participants under the age of 18 must obtain parental consent. The consent form is available upon registration.

Each participant is only eligible to join one team. Each team needs to have two members from the same university.

This competition is meant for all students regardless of their level of IT knowledge. Contestants do not need to have any programming knowledge to join.
