Are you 18-30 and inspired to save the planet? Submit a 3 minute video for a chance to be a youth reporter at the UN Climate Conference in Chile in December 2019. Young people from around the world are invited to showcase their actions to combat climate change by submitting a video to the fifth edition of the Global Youth Video Competition.
In 2019, the Video Competition is jointly organized to broaden the scope of entries and mobilize the global youth along the lines of the Global Climate Action Summit called in September by the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres.
It is led by the Secretariats of the three environmental conventions, the United Nations Climate Change (UNFCCC), Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), in partnership with the Global Environment Facility-United Nations Development Programme Small Grants Programme (UNDP/GEF SGP), Television for Environment (tve) and BNP Paribas Foundation. The short-listed videos will be showcased through the Youth Climate Report map.
Categories
This year’s Global Youth Video Competition is divided into 3 categories:
- Cities and local action to combat climate change;
- Nature-based solutions for food and human health;
- Balancing use of land for people and ecosystems.
Each Convention is responsible for one of the three categories. One winner will be selected from each category.
Benefits
- The final three winners will be invited to attend the UN Climate Change Conference in Santiago, Chile (COP 25). Their videos will be presented in front of a global audience, and the winners will be afforded the opportunity to work with the UN Climate Change’s communications team covering highlights of COP25.
Eligibility
- Video should be up to 3 minutes long;
- Applicants should be aged between 18 and 30;
- Spoken or subtitled English;
- Entries can be from any country
