Five Reasons You Are Holding Back from Applying to Global Opportunities

Putting your application out there and not being sure of what the outcome will be, is indeed scary and challenging. It is like falling off a cliff; your landing is uncertain. Truth is, we cannot control the unforeseen and every step we make in life is actually unpredictable.

Below are five reasons why you don’t apply for any opportunity.

√ FEAR OF REJECTION:

Every human, even the most optimistic has felt this way before. You fear that you will not be accepted, you’re right but what if that is wrong?. What if unlike the others, you can make it at your first trial?. To be rejected is what nobody prays for, in fact people pray against it. But should that be your reason for not stepping out? It’s like being afraid to leave your house because you might kick your leg against a stone. This has happened to you before; in fact if it happens now, you will sigh and keep moving. It is alright to be afraid but do not let that keep you from trying.

√ YOU THINK IT’S NOT YOUR MOMENT YET:

Timing is essential, I agree. And so is every experience, you never know your moment until you have first tried. It is absolutely important to note that you make your moments, every step is a Lesson to hold on to. Big moments will come, start small.

√ YOU’RE AFRAID OF LEAVING YOUR COMFORT ZONE:

If you desire to change, then you’ve got to break boundaries. Take the risk, and that leap of faith will make a drastic change. To be teachable, to improve, to learn, to achieve, to make impact, to inspire, to earn respect and trust, you’ll need to get out of your comfortability at all times. Whether you were accepted or not, you’ve learnt a new way not to do it. Life is all about experiences, don’t to scared to move.

√ YOU ARE PROBABLY SCARED OF THE EXTRA WORK:

To apply is challenging, then stressful. You have to run around for something, put things together, write your resùme and essay. This obviously takes a lot of time and energy but be reminded that nothing good ever came easy, do not let laziness get the better of you. Drag yourself if you have to; if you think you need  more knowledge to accomplish this, go for it. Don’t let regret full your heart afterwards.

√ YOU THINK YOU’RE TOO YOUNG AND DESPERATE:

They say young people are living beyond their age, making great achievements too early. They are too busy doing almost everything, they are too ambitious.

Oh yes, that’s you. You don’t want to be mocked, challenges just have one of the best ways of showing themselves just to scare you. If not even for anything, prove yourself to yourself, and dare to do what these people can’t do or better still you can seat still and wait until they say move, your choice.

In conclusion, I want you to know that there is always a first time; and first timers are not professionals. If you want to let yourself be limited by these and many more, that will eventually be more work. Put yourself together, cripple fear and low self esteem and fight your way through. You will learn from your mistakes as you continue, I am learning from this too.

So shoot your shot, don’t be scared of missing. It’s a free world!
