Deadline: November 3, 2019

The HERE Mapathon: Map Your World 2019 is open for entries. Map your world to tell an interesting story using data and visualization! This challenge is open to everyone around the world.

Here Technologies is a company that provides mapping and location data and related services to individuals and companies. Welcome to HERE, where rich location data, intelligent products and powerful tools come together to drive your business forward.

The Challenge

Data plays a crucial role in today’s society, and over 80% of it has a location connection. While there is a huge amount of public data available, data rendering and display is still a challenge. Large data sets typically require time and expertise to process and interpret, making it nearly impossible for the majority of people to make sense of it.

HERE has developed a service to help overcome this challenge. With HERE XYZ you can easily visualize your geospatial data on a map and make sense of it by using images, color codes, and shapes. Simply upload your own or a public geospatial dataset and start designing your map!

Your challenge is to describe briefly what information you would like to visualize on your future map that could be beneficial for you, your community, the environment or our society at large. Once you are selected, you’ll be guided by mentors to generate map(s) using XYZ Studio.

The winning projects will receive up to $10,000 US in cash prizes!

Topics

  • Mobility
  • Sustainability
  • Cities & Society
  • Economics & Industry

  • The Map your world Mapathon is open to anyone!
  • Whether you’re a newcomer who wants to visualize a topic that matters to you, a data expert creating a map for your project or a developer leveraging a map for your application, this challenge is for you.
  • Take part from anywhere in the world!

The final event will be held online on December 12th, 2019. The finalist teams will remotely present their maps to a jury of experts!
