Climate Tracker is calling Journalists in South America for the “Defenders of the Territory” Project 2021. In alliance with FES Transformación, Climate Tracker is launching the journalistic project “Defenders of the Territory”, which aims to gather 12 profiles of women environmental defenders, in the context of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean, known as the Escazú Agreement.
They are looking for journalists from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, who write powerful profiles of defenders of the territory for the media in their own countries.

If you are selected, you will receive:
- Payment of 350 Euros for the realization of a journalistic profile of an environmental defender.
- One month of training in reporting with a focus on human rights, investigative journalism, climate journalism and access to justice in Latin America.
- 3 months of mentoring and editorial support in the realization of the article.
Eligibility
- Open to journalists from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay;
- Between 18 and 35 years old.
