Deadline: August 31, 2025

Applications are open for the Border Focal Point Network (BFPN) Cross-Border Ambassadors Program 2025. The Border Focal Point Network (BFPN), in cooperation with Youth4Cooperation, is looking for passionate young voices to join the third intake of the Cross-Border Ambassadors Program.

This initiative, coordinated by the European Commission’s DG REGIO, seeks to empower young people living in or connected to Europe’s border regions to engage actively in EU-level dialogue on cross-border cooperation, contribute meaningful insights from the ground, and enhance the visibility of border issues through youth-led communication.

Benefits

  • Successful candidates will become Ambassadors of the Border Focal Point Network, playing a key role in shaping its outreach to young people in border regions. As passionate advocates for cross-border cooperation, they will help elevate the voices of youth, foster meaningful connections across communities, and actively contribute to building a more cohesive Europe through inclusive, youth-driven dialogue and engagement.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will:

  • Are aged 18–30 at the time of application;
  • Live in an EU Member State or EFTA country (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein) and have a strong connection to a border region;
  • Are fluent in English (knowledge of other EU languages is a strong asset);
  • Have a genuine interest in European cooperation, border policy, or local engagement;
  • Are ready to commit approximately 2 days per month from September 2025 to March 2025.

Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated against four criteria:

  • Engagement and motivation in cross-border activities
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving
  • Communications and storytelling ability
  • Commitment to EU Values

Application

Applicants must submit:

  • A motivational letter (maximum 500 words), outlining your motivation, background, and interest in becoming a Cross-Border Ambassador.
  • A short video (maximum 2 minutes), creatively explaining your personal experience with cross-border issues and one solution you would propose. This is your chance to show off your communication skills, originality, and the cross-border topics that matter to you. Be bold – the more inventive, the better!
