Deadline: January 17, 2024

Applications are open for the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa (NELGA) Research Communication Workshop 2024. The aim of this workshop is to improve the visibility and accessibility of NELGA’s research findings, ultimately promoting better cooperation between research and policy.

It will feature presentations, case studies, and interactive sessions focusing on practical aspects of land governance in Africa. Expert speakers and facilitators will share valuable tools and strategies for effectively communicating research findings in decision-making spaces. The workshop aims to be a transformative platform, encouraging collaborative engagement among NELGA members, policymakers, and private investors to shape the future of land governance research communication. Participants will also be able to engage in meaningful interactions with diverse stakeholders, enhancing their ability to influence land policy development and private sector investment decisions.

The 3-day workshop will help to:

  • Improve understanding of the land policy development process and role of national research agendas.
  • Develop a research strategy including stakeholder analysis, knowledge management, and communications.
  • Enhance skills in producing high-quality, evidence-based research outputs like policy briefs and disseminate best practices in policy brief development.
  • Effectively engage in policy dialogue with relevant decision makers.

Workshop Contents

As they believe in the power of collaborative dialogue, they invite you to participate and contribute to:

  • Enhancing research communication skills through certified training and hands-on experiences.
  • Building connections and fostering collaborations with like-minded professionals and experts.
  • Gaining access to valuable resources, tools, and platforms for effective research communication.
  • Equip NELGA members with the tools and techniques to communicate research findings in decision-making spaces effectively.
  • Focus on integrating academic research into policy development and private sector decisions related to land governance.

Post-Workshop Mentoring and Coaching: They offer advisory support for participants to refine and submit communication materials developed after the workshop to work on policy briefs and other outputs.

Funding

  • The travel costs and accommodation will be covered by PROMAN, whom the GIZ-SLGA programme has contracted to implement Technical Support to NELGA on Research Communication.

Eligibility

  • Master’s degree or a degree equivalent to a Master’s degree.
