Applications are open to join the European Union (EU) Youth Sounding Board (YSB) Nigeria. Are you 18 to 30 years old? Are you passionate about youth empowerment and participation? Do you have ideas how the European Union (EU) can consider issues faced by young people in Nigeria and integrate it in programming? If yes, apply to be part of the Youth Sounding Board for the EU Delegation in Nigeria.
The Youth Sounding Board (YSB) aims to create a space for meaningful involvement of young people in the EU’s partnership with Nigeria. The board will enable active engagement and exchanges between the YSB, decision-makers, the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and its Member States.
The mandate of the board is to advise the EU Delegation in Nigeria on Youth Participation and Empowerment, and on a broad range of topics such as Employment, Education, Training and Entrepreneurship, Environment and Climate Change, Human Rights and Democracy, Peace and Security, Digitalisation and Technology, Gender, Social Inclusion and Health, as well as Culture, Arts, Media and Journalism. YSB creates opportunities for young people and youth organisations to express their views, connect and exchange. Also, the Board actively influences the policy and programmes of the EU in Nigeria, and will thereby contribute to making EU action more participatory, relevant and effective for young people in Nigeria.
Benefits
- In the last cohort, the board operated on an unpaid mandate. However, travel and other related expenses would have been covered.
Eligibility
There are a set of criteria which each applicant must meet in order to participate. If you do not meet one or more of the criteria below, your application cannot be considered for selection.
- You are a resident of Nigeria;
- You have a good level of English;
- You are between 18-30 years old at the end of applicant period (30 June 2024);
- You are a Senior Secondary School graduate;
- You have read the privacy rules and you agree on the rules.
