Deadline: June 7, 2024
Applications are open for the Road Safety Reporting Training for African Journalists 2024. Africa has the highest road traffic fatality rate in the world. Over 800 people are killed in road crashes every day, more than half of them vulnerable road users like pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. It’s a public health crisis that is entirely preventable. It’s a huge story that must be told.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and Science Africa will host a three-day training workshop for journalists in Nairobi, Kenya, on 16-18 July 2024. The aim is to equip journalists to report on key road safety issues and help them to train others. The workshop will include the official launch of the WHO Africa Regional Report on Road Safety.
The Road Safety Reporting Initiative aims to help journalists tell more and better stories that help reduce deaths from road crashes. As part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, it offers training, mentoring, tools and resources to help journalists dig deeper into the issue.
