Deadline: July 15, 2024
Applications are open for the EJN Communicators’ Workshop 2024 on Renewable Energy. Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites communicators to join a workshop on renewable energy in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Communicators from Maharashtra and those publishing with outlets that have large audiences in Maharashtra are eligible.
Maharashtra is one of India’s leading states in the field of renewable energy, with significant investments in solar and wind installations; solar power is reported to be transforming agriculture here, from irrigation to vegetable drying. A major sugarcane producing state, Maharashtra is one of the country’s largest producers of biofuel from sugar mills, leading the way on cutting-edge research on new biofuels and battery storage. This places Maharashtra as a key state in India’s efforts to generate half its electricity requirements from renewable sources by 2030.
At the same time, there are issues related to how renewable energy projects are being rolled out, and in the roadmap ahead. EJN’s upcoming three-day workshop for communicators aims to strengthen their skills to research and report on various renewable energy issues in the state to improve public awareness and provide critical feedback on policy frameworks in Maharashtra.
EJN will facilitate engagement between communicators, researchers, subject experts, policymakers and communities, providing an opportunity to gain knowledge and deepen understanding of the fast-evolving RE landscape. The workshop will be held in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from August 29-31, 2024.
