Deadline: September 9, 2024
Applications are invited for the EJN Communicators’ Workshop on Renewable Energy 2024 in Chennai, India. India now has over 87 gigawatts (GW) of solar power, and over 47 GW of wind power generation capacity installed, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. In addition, over 10 GW of co-generation capacity has been installed through biofuel sources. The total installed capacity through renewable energy sources has crossed the 150 GW mark. But there is still a long way to go before India can reach its declared goal of 500 GW installed capacity through renewables by 2030. The road ahead has many promises but also many challenges.
To improve public awareness of this ambitious target, the progress made till date and the steps still required in the years to come, EJN is organizing a three-day national workshop for communicators. The workshop sessions are designed to improve the understanding of communicators of the state of the renewable energy sector in India, the challenges ahead and the ways to overcome those challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about under-reported aspects of renewable energy, including biofuels, green hydrogen, energy storage and offshore wind energy, directly from experts.
EJN will facilitate engagement between communicators, researchers, subject experts, policymakers and communities, providing an opportunity to gain knowledge and deepen understanding of key issue areas. The workshop will be held in Chennai from October 24-26, 2024.
