Nominations are invited for the James T. Grady-James H. Stack Award for Interpreting Chemistry for the Public 2025. The purpose of the award is to recognize, encourage, and stimulate outstanding reporting directly to the public which materially increases the public’s knowledge and understanding of chemistry, chemical engineering, and related fields.
The award was established in 1955 as the James T. Grady Award and is supported by the American Chemical Society (ACS). James H. Stack was added to the award name in 1984.
Award
- The award consists of $5,000, a medallion with a presentation box, and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed. The medallion will be presented during the award address.
Eligibility
- A nominee must have made noteworthy presentations through a medium of public communication to increase the American public’s understanding of chemistry and chemical progress. This information can have been disseminated through the press, radio, television, films, online media, lecture platforms, or books for the lay public.
- The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.
