Applications are open for the WomHub Mentorship Programme 2024. The Mentorship Programme is aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Manufacturing (STEM). This initiative seeks to connect experienced mentors with startups and small, medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) to share valuable insights and foster innovation.
The mentorship experience is integral to all WomHub initiatives, and they believe that effective mentoring can yield positive outcomes for both mentors and mentees. The programme pairs mentors with mentees based on a series of criteria to ensure a productive relationship.
They look at supporting their programme recipients, cohort members, in the following pillars with both in-workshop learnings and follow on mentorship:
- Founder self-support.
- Product strategy through a thematic lens.
- Market access and go-to-market strategies for both traditional SMME’s and ventures.
- Operational efficiences.
- Commercial model.
- External factors to consider such as regulation, competitor analysis, macro-economic effects, cyber security, etc.
- Thematic expert engineers council.
- Pitch readiness.
- Investor landscape.
- Women in business and money through the lens that is specific to the thematic programme.
Eligibility
Mentors can be:
- Any gender
- A STEM or non-STEM professional
- Based in any country in the world. All mentoring engagements will be virtual.
As a guideline, mentors should:
- Have experience/exposure to the start-up environment in Africa specific to:
- Strategy and Business Planning
- Product / Market Fit
- Marketing and Sales
- Due Diligence
- Business Operations
- Human Resources (HR)
- Be able to commit to 6 x 1-hour monthly virtual sessions with their mentee(s).
- Respect the confidentiality of the mentee(s)’ ideas and innovations.
- Have previous mentoring/coaching experience.
