SUNx Malta Climate Friendly Travel Diploma Scholarship 2025

Applications are open for the SUNx Malta Climate Friendly Travel Diploma Scholarship 2025. The Diploma trains young graduates to become Climate Friendly Travel Champions to help build active communities in their home countries in the form of Chapters. The primary areas of focus of these Chapters are the CFT Registry for supporting the development of Climate Action Plans by companies and communities, and training through a 5-day Climate Friendly Travel Training program.

The majority of the scholarships have been allocated for Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States (as defined by United Nations) and the remaining for other developing countries from around the world.

Program Highlights

  • Understand why Climate Change is a dominant issue on the global agenda and recognize its major impact on Travel & Tourism.
  • Follow the development and the science behind the impact of Climate Change on the components of Travel & Tourism – transport, hospitality services and destination activity.
  • Learn theoretical and practical aspects of Green Development strategy, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Understand the key elements of Climate Friendly Travel and how it will help transform the sector to meet the Paris carbon reduction targets.
  • Explore Europe’s Green Deal and similar new Green regional policy.
  • Study how clean energy will transform hotels and entertainment and how transport can grow and become Climate Friendly.

Scholarship

  • Thanks to Malta Ministry for Tourism and Consumer Protection and the Institute of Tourism Studies, Malta, 50 scholarships are available.

Eligibility

  • The Climate Friendly Travel Diploma is the world’s first course dedicated to Tourism & Climate Change. It is designed for students with a passion for Sustainable Travel & Tourism;
  • Applicants should be interested in preparing for careers in companies, communities, and government, implementing long-term transformation.
  • Be from one of the eligible countries.

Application

For scholarship applicants, the tuition fee is free for the entire duration of the program. There will however be a one-time Registration fees of EUR 25 to be paid to Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta with whom they have collaborated to operate this program. This is to be paid only after you are offered a scholarship.
