GCCM Climate Mobility Fellowship 2025–2026 (Stipend available)

Deadline: March 15, 2025

Applications for the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) Climate Mobility Fellowship 2025–2026 are now open. This year-long fellowship is designed to enable youth leaders from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Pacific, with the tools, networks, and expertise needed to drive impactful solutions in the growing field of climate mobility.

The CMF aims to equip youth leaders with critical academic training, exposure to international climate mobility policies, and hands-on project experience. This initiative will support 12 youth leaders from diverse regions, including four from Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Fellows will develop their expertise in climate mobility governance, policy, and research while engaging directly in key global policy processes.

The Fellowship is built around four key pillars:

  • Formal Learning through In-Residence & Virtual Remote Training: Fellows will undergo two distinct training phases: an immersive two-week in-person program focused on building academic knowledge and policy frameworks, followed by a virtual remote program that strengthens practical skills in advocacy, communications, project development, and action planning.
  • Hands-on Learning through GCCM Programmes: Fellows will gain practical experience by integrating directly into ongoing GCCM activities, contributing to policy research, data analysis, regional programming, strategic communications, and public advocacy. This will provide continuous opportunities to build skills and expertise in the climate mobility space.
  • Participation in Global Policy Processes: Fellows will have access to significant global policy events such as the UN Oceans Conference, Berlin Climate Mobility Forum, UN High-Level Week, and COP30. Through participation in expert panels and networking with decision-makers, they will gain valuable insights into global climate mobility policies and contribute to shaping the future of the field.
  • Climate Mobility Impact Project: Over the 12-month fellowship, each fellow will design and implement a Climate Mobility Impact Project, focusing on a local or regional climate mobility challenge. These projects, which can propose new solutions or build on existing practices, will allow fellows to apply their learning, contribute to real-world solutions, and drive measurable change in their communities.

Benefits

  • Fellows will receive a stipend of $800 per month for 12 months. Travel and accommodation associated with fellowship-related training and events will be covered separately from the stipend.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application;
  • Fluent in English;
  • Based in or nationals of Latin American, Caribbean, African, or Pacific Island countries.

Application

Submit your application via the GCCM website by March 15, 2025. Required documents include:

  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation Letter
  • Letters of Recommendation (if applicable)
  • Academic or professional certificates related to climate or environmental work (optional)
