Gift’s journey into public service began early, as a volunteer at the Parliament of Uganda. She worked closely with parliamentary committees, aiding legislative research and drafting briefs for landmark bills like the Mining and Minerals Bill, 2021, and the Museums and Monuments Bill, 2022. Her contributions to committee reports and legal analyses have helped shape national decisions.
On Challenges Faced
Gift grew up in a society where many girls are forced to dream quietly, burdened by systems that were never built with their needs in mind. But she chose to dream boldly and loudly. Her passion for law and women’s health didn’t emerge from the four walls of a classroom; it was ignited in the quiet moments of chronic pain. Gift lives with endometriosis, a condition that continuously challenges her health, strength, and spirit. Instead of allowing it to limit her, she used it as a lens through which she now advocates for justice, healing, and access.

Gift immersed herself in research, delving into reproductive health and the legal systems that too often fail women. She empowered herself through education and leadership, understanding that every step she takes isn’t just for her, but for every girl behind her. She carries the weight of those who opened doors before her, and her commitment to paving the way for others is evident in every aspect of her work.
On her Leadership journey
Currently, Gift serves as a Legal Trainee at Agaba Muhairwe & Co. Advocates, one of Uganda’s leading corporate law firms. In her role, she supports high-stakes legal advisory, litigation, procurement compliance, and international registration processes. Her expertise is also called upon by corporate entities like Uganda Airlines and the Identification and Registration Committee.

In her leadership roles, Gift has continued to grow both professionally and personally. As Head of Human Resources and External Affairs for the International Directorate of the UN, AU & SDGs under FALAS, she managed cross-continental partnerships, organized policy conferences, and led youth-focused SDG initiatives. As General Secretary of the UCU Law Society, she coordinated academic programming, moot courts, and networking events that connected students to the legal field. Through the Female Lawyers Network, she continues to offer legal support and mentorship.
Gift Kisakye’s journey is a proof of her strong walk in rights, legal advocacy, and empowering the next generation of changemakers. She proves that transformation begins when we step up and show up for those who need it most.
As Gift says it, “You are enough. You are powerful. You are seen. And above all, you are deeply loved by God.”
