Dr. Leo E. Tiah is the Founder and Executive Director at Youth Network for Positive Change – YOUNETPO; national youth-led civil society organization that promotes key issues around youth education, health, environment/climate change, and good governance.

Dr. Leo is a passionate youth activist, advocate, dynamic and results-driven person; he holds over Ten (10) years’ experiences in advocacies on issues around Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Good Governance and Accountability, Sexual Gender Based Violence against Women, Girls and Children, HIV/AIDs, Peace Building and Climate Change.

Amb. Tiah is the head of secretariat of the Young Parliamentarian Network of Africa; a network that consist of Young Parliamentarians from Sierra Leone, Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. The networks seek to advocate and advance youth policies and leadership across Africa.

Dr. Tiah is Liberia’s Representative to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Youth Engagement Reference Group for West and Central Africa. Among other things the youth engagement group facilitate sharing ideas, feedback, and concrete recommendations on UNFPA West and Central Africa Regional Office policies, programs, and practices at the regional level and collaborate with existing youth networks to advise the UNFPA Regional Office on enhancing youth participation and leadership across its mandate areas.

He has participated and contributed to the development and updating of key national policies, framework and regulations including but not limited to the development and updating of the National Capacity Self Assessment (NCSA) and the Capacity Development Strategy and Action Plan led by the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA); the National Strategic Plan for TB, Malaria and HIV/AIDs for Liberia.

Dr. Tiah’s invaluable commitment and passion for youth development has earn him seat at many national and international policy making events and advocacy forums including but not limited to: representing Liberia at the ICPD30 Global Youth Dialogue held in Cotonou Benin; participated in the first and third International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA); served as a panelist during the 2023 Women Deliver Conference (Rwanda, Kigali); participated in the Anglophone Civil Society and Community Groups Regional Meeting for experience sharing and Learning on the Global Fund Processes (Zazibar, Tanzania 2022) and participated in the Pan African Youth Forum in Oran, Algeria among others.

Awards, Honours and Achievements.

Dr. Leo’s influence and transformational leadership has earned him respect and recognition both home and aboard. In 2020, he was nominated by the African Youth Awards as Youth Activist of the Year (2020); received the Emerging Climate Activist award in 2022 and is a recipient of the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Medal of Honor for Transformational Leadership in Africa. Amb. Tiah is a fellow of the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa, Accra Emerging leaders’ program; holds a certificate of completion from the University of Georgia through J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development & the University of Georgia Office of Global Engagement administered by the African Civic Engagement Academy (ACEA); obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PgCMgt), inducted as distinguished fellow of the Africa Institute of Public Administration and holds an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Public Administration (DPA-Honoris causa) in recognition of his meritorious achievements and service to humanity and his outstanding commitment to advancing his field, driving innovation, and implementing initiatives with a lasting and meaningful impact.
