The College of Europe, Natolin Campus, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), and the Polish American Freedom Foundation have founded WEASA to present the political, social and economic foundations of modern democracies in the European Union and the transatlantic community and further promote the values of freedom, pluralism and peace.

The 2015 edition will be devoted to one of the most pressing issues of recent years – energy security. The participants will reflect on the impact of energy architecture on the global, regional and national markets and their broader influence on both domestic and foreign policy. They will also discuss the challenges and opportunities for assuring energy security in their respective countries, as well as within the European Union and in the United States.

  • Venue module aimed at fostering debates, exchange of experience and networking among experts, invited guests and practitioners (study trips, debates, simulations etc.).

Eligibility

A person applying for participation in WEASA must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • citizenship and permanent residence in one of the Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia,  Moldova, Ukraine;
  • higher education (Master’s degree or equivalent);
  • minimum 5 years of professional experience;
  • English language proficiency required  to effectively participate in lectures and seminars.

The participants will be selected through a competitive process from a cross-section of society, including state institutions, academia, think-tanks, media, and civil society organizations.

The WEASA program will be delivered by prominent academics and analysts from leading European and American think tanks, as well as high-level officials and practitioners.
