Applications are open for the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute Global Journalist Fellowship 2024. This Fellowship provides support to international journalists of all identities and backgrounds who enroll in one of our graduate programs in journalism at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. All of their programs are three semesters, except for Global and Joint Program Studies and Literary Reportage, which are both four semesters.

The programs available include:

  • Cultural Reporting and Criticism
  • Global and Joint Program Studies
  • Literary Reportage
  • Magazine and Digital Storytelling
  • News and Documentary
  • Podcasting and Audio Reportage
  • Reporting the Nation and New York
  • Science, Health and Environmental Reporting
  • Studio 20: Digital First

Fellowship

  • The 2024 Fellowship covers tuition expenses and registration fees for two of the three or four semesters of the program. The fellow will also receive a stipend of approximately $16,000 for each of the two semesters of the fellowship.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • hold a non-U.S. passport;
  • be fluent in English and at least one additional language;
  • have significant journalism experience working for a news organization or independently in any medium (corporate communications, public relations, and student publications do not qualify);

  • complete applications for both the fellowship and for admission to the M.A. program in Journalism;
  • The GRE exam is not required;
