Avinya Energy Startup Challenge 2025 for Indian Startups

Applications are open for the Avinya Energy Startup Challenge 2025. Avinya – the energy startup competition aims to promote Indian startups in the energy sector. The initiative aims to draw focus on innovation, socio-economic impact, sustainability, diversity, and contribution to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Based on the overwhelming success of Avinya’24, they are launching Avinya’25 this year with the objective to encourage entrepreneurs, research enthusiasts, academicians, and students to innovate solutions and foster groundbreaking ideas & technologies that can shape the energy sector of the future.

Key Focus Areas

Avinya’25 will continue to focus on last edition’s themes across oil and gas value chain, low-carbon fuels, and low-carbon technologies, along with the continued focus on functional topics such as operations, HSE, digital, technology, trading, energy efficiency, capability building, and Industry 4.0. In addition, Avinya’25 aims to broaden outreach by incorporating new topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning applications, advanced battery technologies, and sustainable financing solutions.

Benefits

  • Fiscal Incentives:
    • The top 3 winners of Avinya will receive cash prizes of INR 3 lacs, INR 2 lacs, and INR 1 lac respectively.
  • Non-Fiscal Incentives
    • Top 5% of applicants will be provided with
      • Certificates of recognition
      • Mentorship by leadership from top energy companies, investors, heads of incubation centers, and energy think tanks
    • Top 3 winners of Avinya will be rewarded with
      • Felicitation at the India Energy Week’25
      • Potential opportunity to speak, showcase their ideas, and network at the India Energy Week’25
      • Networking opportunity to connect with investors and industry leader
      • Potential opportunity to work on POC and pilot projects (subject to interest from industry)
      • Designated exhibition space at the India Energy Week’25
    • Potential incubation support opportunities for select early-stage startups

Eligibility

  • Open to the citizens of India.
  • Stage of Startup: Ideation or Early-Stage (where early stage includes Bootstrapped/ Pre-seed/ Series A/Series B/Series C).
  • Startups to have a maximum of 10 years (as of 1st Jan’25) from the date of incorporation and turnover of less than 100 CR.
  • The startups should be operating in the energy value chain as described under themes and problem statement.
  • An entity formed by splitting up or reconstruction of an existing business shall not be considered a Start-up.

Application

The application submission for Avinya’25 will close on December 2, 2024 at 11:59 PM. The startup competition will take place over two rounds, detailed as follows:

  • Round 1: All applications will be screened by esteemed Jury members based on set evaluation-criteria. Top 10 applications will be selected, and the results will be announced on December 16, 2024.
  • Round 2: The top 10 selected applications from Round 1 will present their business case to esteemed Jury members, based on which top 3 winners will be announced in mid-January 2025.
