Deadline: January 30, 2025

Applications are open for the Creation Grant Program 2025. The Creation Grant Program provides funding to Indigenous artists, artistic groups, and culture carriers within Newfoundland and Labrador for the creation, development, exhibition, and transfer of knowledge related to an art form or artistic practice. This pilot project provides funding opportunities to Indigenous artists at any stage of their artistic career, working in all disciplines.

The grant covers research, development, creation, presentation and transmission of knowledge related to artistic work. This includes arts/cultural training and mentorships, and initiatives that pass on cultural knowledge through artistic practice.

Funding

There are two funding streams available:

  • Creation Micro-grant (up to $1,500) for small-scale projects, general materials, and related expenses.
  • Creation Grant (projects running less than 1 year – up to a maximum of $15,000) Successful applicants may be awarded a minimum of 75% of eligible project expenses.

A maximum of $15,000 may be awarded to an applicant annually, across all ArtsNL programs (excluding funding through the Professional Artist Travel Fund and the Accessibility Support Fund).

  • An Indigenous artistic group or artistic collective;
  • A resident of Newfoundland and Labrador for a minimum of one year at the time of application; and
  • Over the age of 18.

  • Individual Artist – A single artist representing themselves.
  • Group – A group of artists practicing as one (such as a band or theatre group).
