Applications are open for the Turing Internship Network – Spring 2025. Now in its 12th round of recruitment, the Turing Internship Network is offering paid internship positions for PhD students to work for the Ministry of Justice (social science focused role), HSBC, the DCE team (Data Centric Engineering) and the TIRE team (Defence & National Security Programme) at the Alan Turing Institute.
New for this round is the unique opportunity to participate in an Innovate UK BridgeAI internship through one of their start-up companies in the agricultural sector. Interns will have the chance to work alongside scientific advisors on a project presented by a start-up and become part of The Alan Turing Institute/BridgeAI community of expert advisors.
The aims and objectives of the Turing Internship Network are to:
- Help doctoral students in applying their knowledge and technical/communication/collaboration skills in real life scenarios;
- Support doctoral students in gaining new knowledge and skills in a field related to their research or in a field they are interested in learning more about;
- support doctoral students in networking and making new connections with industry partners.
Eligibility
Students must meet all the following eligibility criteria to be considered for the scheme:
- Be a current doctoral student enrolled in a university (or a recent graduate within 6 months) based in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
- Have the right to work and be based in the UK or Ireland depending on the role location.
- Be studying for a PhD that heavily uses methods or concepts from mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science, AI, ethics and/or technology, or social science and public policy for the policy internships.
- Be able to pause their studies for the entire duration of the internship, unless the internship allows for part-time or flexible working.
- The student’s supervisor and university department must support their application.
