Applications are open for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2025-2026 at American University of Beirut. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program provides full scholarships in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB).
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program aims to prepare young people to be agents of change in their communities, countries, and regions. Scholars attend a series of workshops, courses, and fieldwork in addition to the courses for their degrees.
PhD Programs open for Spring 2025-26:
- Theoretical Physics
- Biomedical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Environmental and Water Resources Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Epidemiology
Benefits
- The scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation and living expenses for selected applicants.
Eligibility
PhD scholarships are open to:
- Citizens of countries on the African Continent
- Refugees living on the African Continent
Selection Criteria
- Good academic standing in the previous degree
- Talent that exceeds financial resources
- Commitment to giving back to the community, country, and region
- Leadership skills
- Commitment to attend all the additional learning experiences and workshops required by the Scholars Program
- 35 years or younger
- Demonstration of Readiness for University Studies in English (RUSE).
Tests that you can submit: AUB-EN test, TOEFL IBT, IELTS (Academic), GRE (Verbal), GMAT (Verbal), or DUOLINGO English Test (DET).

- Step 1: Complete an AUB online graduate application and upload supporting documents by the deadline.
- Step 2: Select Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the Financial Opportunities section of the online graduate application.
