Applications are open for the Tokyo Global Innovation Challenge (TGIC) 2025. This contest is where curiosity meets the power of entrepreneurship—a platform to unleash your talent and create game-changing business models that matter.

Go Beyond Boundaries—Break through your limits, transcend disciplines, and cross borders. Ready to take on any challenge that can change the world?

Prizes

  • The winning team will receive prize (total amount of prize is ¥1,000,000. Various awards are also prepared for all finalist teams.

Eligibility

  • Teams consisting of 3 to 6 members who are undergraduate or graduate students (including international students) from universities in Japan or abroad.
  • Team can be formed as:
    • Mixed international and Japanese members
    • Japanese-only
    • International-only
  • Business idea must be student-led. (Ideas based on faculty-led research or projects already being carried out by an incorporated company you have established will not be eligible for selection.)
  • Participants must be able to present their pitch in English. (The symposium and this contest will be conducted entirely in English.)

Evaluation Criteria

  • Passion & Leadership: Does the applicant demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to their plan?
  • Originality: Does the plan feature unique perspectives or innovations that address new needs?
  • Market Competitiveness: Does the plan differentiate itself from competitors and show a competitive edge in the market?
  • Growth Potential: Are there future prospects for the business and market, with potential for domestic and international growth?
  • Profitability: Is the business model and revenue plan feasible and well-structured?
  • Feasibility: Is there a solid foundation for advancing the business and evidence of market acceptance?

Application

Submit it with a pitch video of up to 5 minutes. Make sure to upload your pitch video to a cloud storage platform like Google Drive and include the URL in the form.
