Deadline: April 23, 2026

Apply for the Swedish Institute Traineeship Program 2026. Are you ready to apply the knowledge and experience you gained in Sweden to challenges at home? The Swedish Institute is launching exclusive traineeships at Swedish companies in selected countries – an opportunity to grow professionally, expand your global network, and strengthen your future career.

The Swedish Institute (SI) aims to offer more than access to world-class education – they strive to provide a comprehensive platform for building future leaders. As a part of the Sweden Alumni Academy, SI and Swedish Embassies are launching exclusive traineeship offers at Swedish companies in selected ODA/ODC countries. These traineeships offer the opportunity for current and future alumni to build long-term connections with Swedish organisations active in their home countries, all while strengthening their careers.

This offer is available to international master students (graduating in May 2026) and alumni who have previously studied a masters in Sweden. The purpose of the traineeships is to provide current and future alumni with the opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice, develop their professional skills and create valuable contact with future employers and local Swedish business networks.

Benefits

  • The trainees will receive a monthly scholarship, and a travel grant is provided for those residing in Sweden.

Eligibility

  • You are an international student who will be completing your master’s degree in Sweden by summer 2026 (i.e you must graduate on time).
  • You are a former international student who studied in Sweden and graduated in 2023 or later.
  • You have a citizenship in one of the eligible programme countries.
  • Your academic and professional profile matches the requirements listed for the traineeship position(s).
  • You can undertake a full-time traineeship for up to 6 months, taking place between August 2026 and January 2027, and finishing no later than 31 January 2027.
  • You can clearly describe how the traineeship connects to your academic background and future career ambitions.

Program Countries

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Vietnam

Application

In the application, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • A copy of your passport showing your nationality
  • A CV. You must use the following SI CV template

In addition, you will have to provide the following documents depending on whether you are a current or former international student and whether you studied in Sweden on a Swedish Institute scholarship.
