Deadline: July 31, 2026

Applications are open for the Indie Games Fund Africa 2026. The $1 million Indie Games Fund awards cash — without giving up equity in return — and hands-on support to selected small games studios based in Africa, to help them build and grow their businesses on Google Play. This program is currently only available for legal entities registered in Africa.

Prizes

  • The funding is up to $1 million. They will select about 10 studios. Each studio will get between $50,000 and $200,000 USD. Each studio is responsible for covering any taxes that may be applicable.

Eligibility

Your Company

  • Must be registered in one of the following African countries:
    • Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo (DRC), Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
  • Must be a small indie games developer, with no more than 50 employees.
  • If your game is published on your behalf by a publisher, further requirements apply.

Your Game

  • Must be a high quality indie game with high-growth potential.
  • Must already be published on Google Play AND/OR on another platform (PC, Console or other mobile platforms).

Application

You will commit to use the entirety of the funds to build and/or grow your game on Google Play, including making it available on Google Play Pass. You will need to provide details about your growth plans as part of the application process.
