Applications are open for the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award at the University of Sheffield 2027/2028. The University of Sheffield has received an AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) to support postgraduate researchers in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Sheffield’s DLA studentships will be associated with the AHRC North/Northwest Hub, in collaboration with nine other regional universities.
This scheme will support four full PhD studentships per year. Up to one of these studentships may be allocated to an outstanding international candidate. Overseas students are therefore welcome to apply but should be aware that competition will be particularly intense for this place.
Scholarship
- The 3.5 year studentships (pro-rata for part-time) will consist of a maintenance stipend at the UKRI rate (currently £21,805 in the 26/27 academic year) and payment of tuition fees (Home or International fees, as applicable)
Eligibility
- Open to postgraduate researchers in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
- They invite candidates who are not already enrolled on a PhD.
- Overseas students are therefore welcome to apply, but should be aware that competition will be particularly intense for this place.
Application
You application consists of two parts:
- Submit a study application for a PhD place at the University of Sheffield via the online application portal. The deadline to submit your study application is by Monday 14th December 2026.
- Once you have submitted your study application and received an application number, you must submit your funding application via this form. The form will ask you to input your study application number. The funding application will need to be submitted in one sitting. This template can be used to prepare your answers for submission. The deadline to submit your funding application deadline is 5 PM GMT Friday 19th February 2027.
